Time's a-ticking

Cardigan: Primark
Destroyed denim shorts: River Island
Pocket watch (worn as necklace): Portobello Market (London)

This was what I wore to class today. The weather was a wee bit warmer, so I thought I'd bring out the shorts though I still had to wear tights underneath.

I got the pocket watch from a seller on Portobello Street. This was way before the high streets started coming out with pocket watch-necklaces so the prices of these babies were still quite high then. However, this particular one I got was less than half the price of what the other sellers were selling. The catch? It doesn't work. Well, not properly anyway. It's a bit wonky and quite temperamental. I didn't mind at all, because I was only wearing it as an accessory and not really to tell time.

This was how it looked like, originally. All I did was break off the cover and replaced the chain with my own necklace chain. Yes, my heart ached a little as I broke the cover off, but I preferred to wear it with the watch face showing. Feeling guilty, I decided to keep the cover in a drawer.

  3. Hi Joey,

Thanks for replying so quickly. Hmm, I always make the point to go back to Malaysia at least one a year, although not necessarily CNY. Pretty much whenever I can get long holidays off from the hospital. My parents and sisters are still in Malaysia. Love the food. In this 10 days so far, I have already eaten 12 packets of nasi lemak. HAHA. Im so bloated, I cant do any outfit posts at the moment.

Cool, that's like more than a double degree that you're doing. Psychology is very interesting...and probably involves loads of reading.

p/s: the watch necklace is an excellent find. It has a rather antique feel.

  4. Wow! That's a really sweet pocket watch. I'm actually quite interested into pocket watches myself, my dad owns one, but it's a wee bit too expensive to be carrying it around. Lovely find (although it would be better if it actually tells the time!).

  8. Ssaem: Thanks! I was actually going to suggest you do some OOTD post/videos. I'd love to see your fashion style!

Roshi: Awww, thank you. That's very sweet.
Roshi, you'd LOVE Portobello Market! It's a whole street of shops and vendors selling antiques and vintage clothes/homeware. It's a must-visit (besides Primark hehe) if you ever visit London.

Peh Sun (Squeeze the Pug): Haha...12 packets? That sounds like you're having a lovely time back home :)
Yums! I just had some two weeks ago because there was a Malaysian food fair in Manchester. I'm going to another one this weekend.
Psychology was indeed very interesting, but having to read all those journals for my dissertation and courseworks wasn't fun. I'm sure you know what I mean, you prolly have tons of journals to read, too, right?

Nicholas: Oh, that's an interesting fact. Yeah, better not use it or your gf might drop it and break it. Maybe I should ask my bf to fix it for me ;)

    Yumeko: Thank youuuuu :)

Elisa: It's pretty cool, ain't it?

    michelle_: Pretty neat, eyh? Thanks!
I'm always so happy when ever you drop by :D

  9. Adore what you did to the watch (even though it's not much)
You might have been able to unscrew it and screw it back on if you wanted to?
I really like how it completed your outfit

I need to be able to wear less than 2 layers at some point soon, or else I'm going to GO CRAZY.

I did think about that, but didn't have the necessary tools and I made up my mind about never putting it back on again, anyway

Mae Lu: Haha! You think your weather is bad, ours is right mental! It blardy snowed the other day. Just one day and then gone.
    Thanks! :)
