Rainbow Color lenses review

If you've been following me on Twitter (@everydayoutfits) and Instagram (@joey_wongby), you'd have seen me happily showing off my latest contact lens haul. Yeap, the pretty, colourful boxes above contain contact lenses!

This series is a collaboration between Cheesie (a famous Malaysian blogger) and GEO Medical (Korean manufacturers of circle lenses).

There is only ONE website that is allowed to sell these lenses (Cheesie approved!) and that is Tokyoninki. They offer free shipping within Malaysia and there was also a special Buy 3 Free 1 deal going on, so I decided to get Wood Ash, Earth Brown, Storm Grey and Sky Blue.

You can also get them at Sasa outlets in Malaysia, but I think they're only available in Plano.

Today I'll be reviewing Wood Ash and Earth Brown.

Origin: Korea
Diameter : 14.2 mm
Water Content : 42%
Base Curve : 8.6mm
Life Span : 3 months disposable

Earth Brown and Wood Ash

How pretty is the packaging?

In each box are two vials containing the lenses and a contact lens case, too.

Wood Ash

Wood Ash

Comfort: 5/5
It's super comfortable. I wore it to work from morning to evening, so that was roughly a total of 12 hours (I know I shouldn't and I normally don't, but I just wanted to test the comfort level of these lenses) and my eyes only started feeling a little uncomfortable towards the end of the day.

Enlargement: 2/5
At 14.2mm, they don't offer much enlargement, but that is totally cool with me.

Colour: 4/5
The colour is uber pretty and very natural. I'm not sure my pictures do it justice, but it lightened my dark brown eyes considerably without looking weird.

How much do I like them? 5/5
So glad I made the choice to get Wood Ash. I am in LOVE with these!

Earth Brown

Earth Brown

Comfort: 3/5
These weren't as comfortable as Wood Ash and I had to remove them after about 5 hours.

Enlargement: 2/5
Not much enlargement either.

Colour: 2/5
Frankly, I'm not a fan of the colour. The colour change looks very unnatural on me. They look alright in pictures, but not in person. To get an idea of how it looks like in real life, you can refer to my picture below (the one with flash), except even scarier lol.

How much do I like them? 2/5
I will be very honest and say I'm not a fan of these. Cheesie wears them SO well, but on me it just looks very odd.

As you can see, I'm super happy with Wood Ash and it's my current favourite pair of circle lenses. Unfortunately, I'm severely disappointed with Earth Brown. I think it would definitely look good with the right make up, but it's just not for me.

LensVillage GEO Grang Grang Choco review

I have been complaining about how circle lenses these days are getting ridiculously large in diameter. We're talking about 17mm here and personally, that is not the look I'm going for. What about girls like us who like to keep it simple, yet have a bit of fun with colour and a tiny bit of enlargement for our eyes?

Circle lens manufacturers, y u no make new circle lenses with smaller diameters???

Well, someone must have heard us (me) lamenting, so they introduced the new GEO Grang Grang series! (Funny name, I know. I wonder what it means in Korean) With the new series, you can choose between 14.2mm or 15.0mm. YES!!

Comfort: 4/5
I had no problem wearing these lenses for hours. I even wore this to a smokey Japanese BBQ and didn't experience any discomfort. However, I wouldn't recommend wearing it for longer than 6 hours.

Enlargement: 3/5
The diameter of these circle lenses are 14.2mm, so they do have a little bit of an enlarging effect. Moreover, the dark chocolate ring around the lenses further contributes to the enlargement. I must say that even though the dark ring is pretty obvious under light, it doesn't look too harsh.

Colour: 2/5
*note that a 5/5 score would mean that the colour's very obvious even while indoors*
Indoors, these lenses don't look like they offer much colour change. The brown is more obvious in daylight or when I use flash. I think this pair blends really well with my natural eye colour (dark brown).

How much do I like them? 4/5

Comfort: 3/5
Okay, I've worn these a couple of times before writing this review and I find that unfortunately, the comfort level is not as high as many of my other circle lenses. It's fine for a couple of hours (around just 3 or 4), but after that it starts getting a little uncomfortable.

Enlargement: 2/5
As these are only 14.0mm in diameter, they don't offer much enlargement. I was fine with that as I chose these lenses because of its colour, rather than for enlarging purposes. That said, the dark rim around the lenses does offer a little bit of enlargement which looks very natural.

Colour: 3/5
*note that a 5/5 score would mean that the colour's very obvious even while indoors*
These lenses are exactly what I wanted in terms of colour change. I was on the lookout for a pair of grey lenses since I've so many brown ones, but I didn't want it to look unnatural. I think this pair blends really well with my natural eye colour (dark brown). The colour is much more obvious in daylight.

How much do I like them? 3/5

LensVillage offers a huge variety of circle lenses and they have over 400 different designs and colours on their online store. They have really good customer service and my emails were always replied promptly.

The package took about 10 days to arrive (which is quite normal for posts coming from Malaysia to the UK). LensVillage ships worldwide and every order comes with a free contact lens case.

DBeautyShop GEO Magic Black review

Today, I'll be reviewing the GEO Magic Black circle lenses.

Comfort: 4/5
These lenses are pretty comfortable and I forget that they are there after a couple of minutes. I attribute this to its 14.00mm diameter which makes it very breathable and so, very comfortable to wear.

Enlargement: 3/5
Even though these are only 14.0mm in diameter, the thick, dark ring around the lenses provides an obvious enlarging effect. I think it looks good in photos, but in person, it may look a little unnatural especially if I don't wear any eye make up. However, I guess it would be perfect if you want to go for the dolly-eye effect.

Colour: 1/5
*note that a 5/5 score would mean that the colour's very obvious even while indoors*
As you can see, these lenses offer no colour change because the rim and the pattern is black. It does make my irises even darker than usual, though.

How much do I like them? 3/5

Note the difference

These may be the darkest circle lenses I've ever owned. Even though I'm not quite used to how they look, my boyfriend thinks they're fine. I always use him as a measure for how natural my circle lenses look because he finds most of them scary -.-
However, for these, he didn't say anything bad so I take that as a good sign *thumbs up*

DBeautyShop ships worldwide and every order comes with a free animal lens case. These cases are absolutely adorable! I've started my own mini collection and it makes me so happy looking at them :)

DBeautyShop Geo Jazz Coffee review

Today, I'll be reviewing the GEO Jazz Coffee circle lenses.
Disclosure: These lenses were sponsored by DBeautyShop , a Malaysian-based online store that sells circle lenses. DBeautyShop did not dictate what should or should not be in this review and thus this review is written based on my honest opinions.

The company ships worldwide. Packaging was adequate with secure bubble wrapping around the vials and everything was sent in a bubble envelope. They offer a free animal lens case with every pair of circle lenses purchased. I got pink fishies this time!

Note the subtle difference

Comfort: 3/5
These lenses are relatively comfortable and I forget that they are there after a couple of minutes. However, even though it says that the water content is 38% (like most of my other circle lenses), I can only wear it for 4-6 hours after which my eyes will start to feel really dry.

Enlargement: 3/5
As these are only 14.0mm in diameter, I didn't expect them to have much of an enlarging effect. This suits me just fine as I always prefer the natural look.
*I wear circle lenses in every single photo of me you've seen on this blog so you know I go for subtlety*

You may wonder why a higher rating isn't awarded as these lenses are clearly larger than my iris, but actually, there are circle lenses with even wider diameters like 15.0, 16.0 and 17.0mm. Those would definitely give you the dolly-eye effect and I think those deserve higher ratings for iris enlargement.
However, that is not to say that you should discount circle lenses with lower ratings for iris enlargement because for people like me, we're happy that the enlargement effect is subtle. I know I speak for a lot of ladies when I say that I wished the manufacturers would produce new 14.0mm designs for circle lenses. It seems that a lot of companies these days are competing to have the widest diameter without taking into account what the consumers really feel most comfortable with.

Colour: 1/5
*note that a 5/5 score would mean that the colour's very obvious even while indoors*
These lenses offer no colour change except maybe when I use flash photography. I still gave it a 1 because I like the light brown ring around the lenses because this makes the enlargement look really natural and blends into the eyes easily.

How much do I like them? 3/5

Shoppingholics Geo Bella Brown review

Today, I'll be reviewing the GEO Bella Brown circle lenses.
Disclosure: These lenses were sponsored by Shoppingholics, a Malaysian-based online store that sells circle lenses, fashion accessories and other beauty and body care products. Shoppingholics did not dictate what should or should not be in this review and thus this is written based on my honest opinions.

The parcel took just slightly over a week to arrive. As always, their packaging is uber cute and very secure. Everything was posted in a bubble envelope, of course, but the vials were also stored inside this tiny little box with extra bubble wrap. As I was ripping the envelope, I was super keen to see which cute animal lens case I got. The feeling is a bit like opening a Kinder Suprise egg *wink*

Item details
Origin: Korea
Diameter : 14.0mm
Water Content : 38%
Base Curve : 8.6mm
Life Span : 1 year disposal

Comfort: 4/5
As I do for all my circle lenses, I soaked my lenses overnight before I wore them for the first time. For some reason, the first day I wore them, I couldn't wear them for longer than 3 hours before my eyes started feeling dry. However, it got better the next day and now, I can wear them for 6-8 hours without any problems. I don't experience any discomfort within this period, but any longer and my eyes will start to feel really dry.

Enlargement: 3/5
As these are only 14.0mm in diameter, I didn't expect them to have much of an enlarging effect, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that it did make my eyes look brighter. True, the enlargement effect is not as big as the 15.0, 16.0, 17.0mm ones, but it definitely enlarged my irises. I like the fact that the ring around the lenses are dark brown in colour because it definitely blends in better and looks more natural like that.

Colour: 2/5
*note that a 5/5 score would mean that the colour's very obvious even while indoors*
I have naturally very dark brown eyes and I've been told that apparently, my irises are darker in comparison to most Asians. These lenses made my irises a lighter shade of brown. The brown is more obvious in daylight, but still looks very natural, in my opinion. Indoors, the brown can be seen under certain lighting.

How much do I like them? 4.5/5

Note the difference

When asked to select a pair of circle lenses I wanted to review, I went straight for the browns because I was on the lookout for a pair that gave my eyes that subtle hint of colour and one with a little bit of an enlargement effect. As you guys know, I'm a minimalist when it comes to makeup, but a lot of circle lenses look best when worn with full eye makeup, including false eyelashes. I used to own a few pairs that were 14.5mm diameter and those I saved for nights out when I could occasionally (rarely) force myself to doll up. I love the whole gyaru look and I admire how pretty some girls look, but I know that for lazy me, I need something more for everyday wear.

I own (and have owned) many pairs of circle lenses, but these GEO Bella Brown lenses have certainly become one of my favourite pairs because of how natural they look. Also, I think they kind of match my hair!

I hope that this review was useful especially for girls who want to go for a more subtle and natural look for daytime. If you're as lazy as me, then these lenses are perfect for you :)
