Cream puffs
Had these cream puffs at a buffet for Mother's Day. My parents and I were one of the earliest to arrive (kiasu hehe) and the sight of these cream puffs immediately caught my attention. The fact that there were only 3 of them did not escape my attention. Like any decent lady, I refrained from jumping right to desserts and started off with my first round of mains. As I was piling my plate during my second helping, I noticed that there was only ONE cream puff left. Wasting no time, I grabbed a nearby plate and delicately placed the last one on it. With my right hand holding my noodles, curry and mussels and my left hand holding my dear cream puff, I trudged back to my table like a boss.

OOTD
This was what I wore to the buffet. I chose a flowy asymmetric skirt so I could stuff myself and yet have the drapey skirt cover my food baby.

Thean Hou Temple
On the way back from work one day, I took a wrong turn and decided to check out Thean Hou Temple. The last time I was there must have been when I was still a kid. I didn't remember it being so big. I can't wait to bring my American and German friends here when they visit next month.

Handsome parrot

Pretty interior deco at a Japanese restaurant

Egg tarts

Nasi Goreng Pattaya
Fried rice wrapped inside an omellete.

Kimchi soup
Truth be told, I'm not a huge fan of Korean food. This kimchi soup did nothing for me. Perhaps I don't try enough Korean food to give it a proper chance. What do you guys recommend?

Manicure
Went to do my nails a couple of weeks ago. Just a simple mani-pedi, but they provided foot and hand massages, too. It was pretty nice!

Oasap Lace and Pearl Detail Bib Collar

Disclosure: The lace and pearl detail bib collar was sponsored by Oasap.com, but the opinions are mine.

Lace and Pearl Detail Bib Collar: Oasap.com

Yay, I've finally got my hands on a fake collar! I know the trend is so last year, but I never could justify paying for one. Some of them cost as much as a dress or even more. So I was really glad when I found this on Oasap.com.

I wore it to work and got many curious glances and compliments. Many were amazed such a thing exists as they've never heard of fake/detachable collars before and thought it quite ingenious.

I tend to take for granted that just because I read a lot of fashion blogs and scour Lookbook for outfit inspirations, I assume that others know what's hot and what's not. When in fact, a trend can be making it's rounds all over blogs and other fashion networks, but your average every day lady may be completely oblivious to it.

I'm rather glad I introduced the concept of detachable collars to them hehe.

I chose this particular one from Oasap.com because it has both lace and pearls. It's really very pretty in real life and I can't wait to wear it more often.

What do you think of the fake collar trend?
Do you have any fake collars?

Bright red and sparkles

Disclosure: The red chiffon blouse was sponsored by Sheinside.com, but this review is written based on my honest opinions.

Red chiffon blouse: Sheinside
Belt: Random blogshop
Bracelet: Versace for H&M

When I first got the blouse, I was quite surprised by how striking it was. The red is startling and the collar very bling. In fact, the colour of the sequins in the picture on the website is of a darker, much more toned down shade, but the one I received is super glittery.

I intended for this to be a workwear outfit, but I'm not sure I can get away with so much bling. You see, my job involves driving out and meeting clients, so I really don't wanna scare them away before closing the deal.

I love this Versace for H&M bracelet, but I hardly get the chance to wear it. I wore it to work once and got plenty of compliments even though none of my colleagues knew where I got it or the fact it has Versace delicately imprinted on it. You see, H&M hasn't reached our Malaysian shores (though it will this coming Autumn!) so this brand is practically unheard of here.

Will you be able to get away with wearing this to work?

If you're interested in making a purchase from Sheinside, they have kindly offered a code to all my readers, so remember to use my code 'Joey20' to get a 20% discount

Dear disgruntled reader

Oh, hey, look! My first hater comment! Woot!

"You are making your blog more of a marketting site by doing so much advertising for god knows what all things in return! Seriously! This is meant to be a clothes blog and not some god damn stupid things review! Ofcourse you will love them cause you are like marketting them! Please stop these. Takes away the niceness of your blog!"

Yeap, that's the hater comment in all it's original glory.

Dear disgruntled reader,

You may be surprised, but I actually have a very good idea who you are. Even though you prefer to hide behind the veil of anonymity, the internet makes uncovering such things very easy.

I actually replied your comment in the post below, but since I'm pretty sure you don't check back for replies, I've decided to reply here, as well. You see, I care about my readers and those who take the time to leave comments always stand out and I make it a point to remember their names (or usernames). Yes, that means I remember you, too. You did leave me some comments before asking about certain things like where I bought my shoes or suggesting perhaps I should list down where I buy my shoes. All of which I've repeatedly, patiently, replied (even though you seem not to read my answers) that I always list down where I got the stuff I'm wearing...unless I forgot or if it's from random shops/markets with no name. Ring any bells?

Any-jimmy-who, here's my reply to your comment:

*******************************************************************

Really? Have I been doing a lot of advertorials? I always put a clear Disclaimer if the items were gifted. If you don't see the disclaimer, you can safely assume I bought the products with my own money.

All reviews are written based on my own honest opinions regardless whether or not the products were sponsored.

Your statement "Ofcourse you will love them cause you are like marketting them!". Well, like, I find you rather presumptuous cause, like, I don't LOVE all the products I'm gifted for reviewing purposes. If you read through my older posts (just off the top of my head, I remember some GlossyBox products I wasn't too keen about), you'd find that I always genuinely state the products I like, the ones I find so-so and the ones I totally regret having.

Perhaps you are also confused with my own reviews (not sponsored) which I view as a way of sharing (like the last few masks posts, for example) with my readers on the products I've tried. I'm not sure when you started reading, but I actually did a survey during one of my giveaways and one of the many suggestions I received was to do more product reviews. So I thought, why not?

However, you're right on one point being that this blog started out as an everyday outfits blog. I do apologize about deviating, but life has been so different since I came back and I have other priorities now. I no longer have the time for consistent outfit posts. Yes, it's rubbish of me, but I do hope part of the reason you started reading this blog was to know more about me, as a person. To read about my everyday life (which is in fact, another highly voted suggestion from my readers).

If, however, you really can't be bothered about lil ol' me and just came for pretty clothes and things, I suggest you visit other much better fashion blogs out there :)

Lots of love,
Joey

Now how's that for amusing? Hehehe

"This is meant to be a clothes blog and not some god damn stupid things review!"
I absolutely LOVE being told what MY blog should be about #sarcasm

I'd like to state that I'm not in the least bit hurt or angry. I just found it very amusing how someone can be so heated up about my blog and make it sound as if I'm obligated to update it the way he/she likes haha

Jokes aside, she did bring up one very valid point in that I meant for this blog to be a personal style blog...when I first started it over a year ago. It's now become a jumble of things and I'm aware I've lost some readers who came purely for the fashion. But I'm okay with that. People are free to choose and if they want to read my blog, good, but if they decide to move on to other blogs, that's also fine with me.

I'd like to just notify everyone that work is a big part of my life now and I won't have time for outfit posts. Even if I do, they might be few and far between. I'll still be reading your blogs, though, cause that's still one of my favourite hobbies :)

Down to Earth

Down to Earth contacted me about a month ago to ask if I'd like to review some of their products. I checked out their website and was instantly attracted because all their products are made from 100% natural ingredients. Their products do NOT contain parabens, silicones, formaldehyde and other chemicals which can be bad for us, but instead, they use natural alternatives.

If you have a moment, I highly suggest reading their FAQs page*click*. It is super informative and I've definitely learned a lot about natural/organic products or those that claim to be.

You'll also be glad to know that Down to Earth's products are Cruelty Free and Fair Trade.

I selected a couple of items from their website and tried them out the minute I received them. Here's my review after 3 weeks.

Bug Shield Lotion
Pros:
This works very well! Since returning to Malaysia, I've been bitten countless times by evil mosquitoes and have the scars to show (yes, I don't know why I scar easily since coming back from the UK). After applying this, I have not had a single mosquito bite. You may argue it's a coincidence, but I've not changed anything else. I still stay in the same house (sit in the same places and sleep on the same bed), so the only thing I can attribute the sudden disinterest of mosquitoes is to this Bug Shield Lotion.

Cons:
It smells really strongly of insect repellent which is a bit of a turn off, but I suppose if you only apply it at home that should be okay. Or if you want to wear it out as a man repellent, that'd be pretty good, too #lamejoke

All Natural Feminine Wash
This smells really pleasant.
It's also very gentle.

All Natural Hydrating Lotion
Pros:
This smells like sweeties!
It does what it promises in terms of providing moisture.
Absorbs quickly into skin and doesn't leave a sticky feeling.

Cons:
The smell, while sweet, is a bit too strong. I applied this in the office (just on my hands) and the smell was a little too overwhelming.

Goat's Milk and Cocoa Body Butter - Unscented
Pros:
It goes on like butter and is very moisturizing. My skin always feels super smooth the next day.
It also doesn't leave a sticky feeling.

Cons:
None!

All Natural Tinted Lip Balm - Island Kiss
Pros:
My current favourite lip balm.
The tinted red is just the right shade for me, not too dark.
I wear this to work every day and it provides really good moisture. The best part is, it's non-greasy!

Cons:
None!
