Models Own haul and review

Many, many moons ago, Models Own had a 50% off sale on all their items in order to commemorate hitting 50,000 Likes on their Facebook page. I decided I couldn't possibly miss this opportunity and decided to put in an order. They have such a huge variety of colours it took a lot of self-restraint not to throw everything into my online shopping cart.

As you can see, the lipsticks were squished at the top when they arrived. I wouldn't have minded so much if they were for me, but I intend to give them away and just wanted everything to be perfect. Replacements were sent, but unfortunately, one of the replacement lippies was also slightly squished. I guess there's really nothing much they can do. I think it's just poor packaging for the lippies.

Nevertheless, I'm SO happy with my little haul. Pretty colours make me happy!

Here are some quick swatches.

I find that the consistency of the nail polishes vary greatly. I only had to use one coat for Beth's Blue and 2 coats for Pink Punch in order to achieve the colour in the bottle. However, the first 2 coats of Lime Green and Pastel Pink were streaky so I added an extra coat for those.

Juicy Jules
Juicy Jules is so glittery! It contains holographic glitter which is absolutely gorgeous! I didn't do a swatch because it just wouldn't do it justice. If you're into glitter nail polishes, trust me, you'll love this. It's great for layering over a different nail colour. However, to wear it on its own, you'll probably need 5 coats to properly cover an enter nail.

Pearly Queen
Pearly Queen is quite sheer, so I needed 3 coats for this. It's really quite pretty, but it's so difficult to capture on camera. Anywayz, after several coats, the colour looks nearly as pearlescent as in the bottle.

All nail polishes had decent lasting power, though I really think it depends on the sort of chores/work you do. So it's quite hard to comment on that.

I am also very impressed with Models Own's top-notch customer service! They always replied my emails/Facebook messages within 24 hours (most times, within an hour, actually) and were always very polite and helpful. Excellent service!

Packaging was pretty secure as they wrapped everything with bubble wrap and placed them neatly into a Models Own box.

I didn't review everything because some of the items are going into a little giveaway I'm putting together, so keep an eye out for that ;)

Meanwhile, don't forget to enter my current giveaway here*click*!

  2. Oooh it's been quite awhile since this post and I honestly can't remember, but I reckon it took about a week? I remember I bought this during a special sale so they were literally swamped with orders so it took a bit longer. Yeah, Boots have limited choices and the online deals (when they have some) are so much better

  4. Hey Joey! I've come across several bloggers that were impressed with Model's Own product. I will definitely have to check out their site. You're like me with online shopping. I'm always throwing everything but the kitchen sink in the cart and then when it comes to check out time I realistically look at my bank account and start throwing things OUT the cart. HAHAHA I found your blog through Squeeze the Pug. I love her! She's an amazing woman. She recognized you in her post and I wanted to introduce myself. I'm Kim from SassyUptownChic. I live in the United States, but my heart is in England. I love everything about about it. You'll see that in my posts. So I just wanted to say Hi and I look forward to reading your future posts. Hope you're having a great day.

  12. THX for letting me know about Juicy Jules. I was sure you only need 2, max 3 coats to cover the nail. I am a little bit disappointed now, especially because I wanted to buy it tomorrow...
